Excitement is building amongst the running community as one of Wales’ oldest and most beloved marathon events returns this Sunday, March 16, 2025. The Great Welsh Marathon Events which comprise of three distance running events, will once again take place at the award-winning Pembrey Country Park, renowned for its stunning 500 acres of woodlands and golden sands.
This iconic race, named by Runner’s World as a must-do marathon event, promises a thrilling day for participants and spectators alike.



Tash Smith, Acting Managing Director of Front Runner Events, expressed her enthusiasm for this year’s event, stating:
“We are thrilled to be staging the Great Welsh Marathon Events this Sunday, where we expect some top performances all around! This year, we are excited to host our very first Great Welsh 10K and become an Abbott WMM age-qualifying race. This not only enables us to be more inclusive for runners of all abilities, but it also provides a unique opportunity for athletes of all ages to qualify for the biggest races in the world.”
With good weather forecast for race day, organisers anticipate a strong turnout and many personal bests.

How to Register
Although registration for the 2025 event has closed, Early Bird registration for the 2026 event will open on Saturday, March 15, 2025. Secure your place at the best price by entering on the official website: HERE.
Running for Charity
Many runners will be fundraising for charity, with official charity partners including Shelter Cymru or Wales Air Ambulance. Donations and fundraising efforts are still welcomed!

Parking Information
• Parking is available within Pembrey Country Park (pre-booking recommended).
• Car sharing is encouraged to ease congestion.
• A dedicated drop-off zone is available upon entering the park.
• Parking is managed by Carmarthenshire County Council.

Runners will be challenged on a course that highlights the stunning beauty of West Wales. From top-notch race facilities, to enthusiastic marshals and excellent medical provisions, participants can expect an unforgettable experience. All finishers will be rewarded with a shiny medal and fantastic finish-line goodies!
Spectator Information
Spectators can cheer on runners at the start and finish area in Pembrey Country Park or at North Dock, where they can also enjoy refreshments at St Elli’s Bay.
