An exciting day was had by all the Great Welsh Marathon Events, hosted at Pembrey Country Park. Marking a significant milestone with record-breaking participation thanks to the newly introduced 10K distance for this West Wales event. Featuring three races: the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K, it continues to attract runners from across the globe.
Renown as being one of Wales’ oldest marathon events, it’s long been a World Marathon Majors qualifying event, it has recently joined The AbbottWMM Marathon Tours & Travel (MTT) Age Group World Rankings as well, drawing interest for many looking to qualify for the biggest races in the world.
Tash Smith, Acting Managing director said:
“Race conditions were near perfect, which allowed for some exceptional performances in the elite field, along with PB’s for lots of fun runners too! There were many who were taking on their first event with us today, which is always an honour for us. We saw a Guiness World Record Attempt again at the marathon and it was fantastic to set a new course record at the inaugural 10K.”
